It’s been a successful spring athletic season so far for the Golden Tornadoes.

Geneva’s softball team has won 14 of its last 17 games, sitting at 17-10 after beginning the month of April with four straight wins April 2 and 3.

Geneva’s track team traveled to IUP March 31 for the Western Pennsylvania Championships. Both teams finished ninth overall, but the trip was highlighted by some incredible individual performances. Tiffany Bear’s 141.0-foot javelin throw shattered Geneva’s all-time record by seven feet and secured her first-place finish in the event. Dee Koutsourais and Andrew Foxenberg each finished second in the 10,000-meter event, while Foxenberg broke yet another school record. Geneva’s 4 x 800-meter relay team brought home the gold with a fantastic performance turned in by Susan Fletcher, Marsha Miller, Rebecca VanRegenmorter and Laura Seyler.

In baseball, Geneva improved its record in late March with a four-game sweep over Myers University. A loss to Alderson-Broaddus April 2 and a victory against Bethany College April 3 brought the team to 15-12 overall.

The tennis team picked up its first win of the season March 31 against Shawnee State.
