Linda (Nienhuis) Sumner '91 will lead the Lady GTs as head women's soccer coach—and as Geneva's discipleship coordinator for women's athletics.

Once a leading scorer for the Golden Tornadoes, Linda Sumner ’91 returns to Geneva this fall in a new role.

Sumner has been selected to lead Geneva’s women’s soccer team as head coach—and also to serve as discipleship coordinator for women’s athletics. As a player at Geneva, she was a four-year starter, holding the women’s scoring record (66 goals) for 15 years and earning NAIA All-American Honors her senior year. She also worked as an assistant coach for the women for three years.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to return to my alma mater and to rejoin the Geneva College community,” Sumner says. “I look forward to being an active part of an athletic department that has had so much success—athletically, academically and spiritually.”

Sumner lives on College Hill in Beaver Falls with her husband, Alan (Geneva’s head baseball coach), and two daughters, Jamie and Erica.
