Geneva College Athletes of the week for the week of March 26-31, 2012:

Women:

Ashley Davis – Softball

Sophomore – Infield

New Middletown, OH

Ashley Davis has been selected as the female student-athlete of the week. Davis started her week by hitting her first career home run in Geneva’s 4-3 victory over Baldwin-Wallace. Davis’ homer gave Geneva a lead in the fifth inning against the Yellow Jackets. On Saturday, the Golden Tornadoes swept a conference doubleheader against Waynesburg and Davis provided four hits and five RBI on the day. For the week, Davis was 5-13 with seven RBI.

Men:

Nick Edinger – Track and Field

Junior – Distance

Mars, PA

Nick Edinger has been selected as the male student-athlete of the week for the second consecutive week. Edinger continues his assault on the Geneva College record book as he became the fastest 5000 meter runner in school history on Saturday. Edinger finished fifth overall at Washington & Jefferson and posted a time of 15:00.93. That time shattered the school’s all-time mark by 20 seconds.

Biblical Studies professors Drs. Byron Curtis, Jonathan Watt and Scott Shidemantle are regular presenters of papers at professional conferences, and have recent publications in the area of Hebrew Bible and the Greek New Testament
