Alyse Scarsella has been selected as the women’s student-athlete of the week. Despite a pair of losses to nationally ranked Thomas More and Saint Vincent, Scarsella put on a show on Saturday night against the Bearcats. Single handedly keeping Geneva in the game, Scarsella posted her fourth double-double of the season with a season high 27 points and a season high 17 rebounds. She was 9-18 from the field and 9-12 from the foul line. Perhaps the most impressive stat of the night were Scarsella’s ten offensive rebounds. For the season Scarsella leads Geneva in both points (11.6) and rebounds (7.1).

Drew Santarsiero has been selected as the men’s student-athlete of the week. Santarsiero opened the week by helping Geneva get past Thomas More in Kentucky for the first time in school history. Santarsiero knocked down three first half three-pointers and finished with nine points to keep the Golden Tornadoes in the game while leading scorer Rich Colick was on the bench with foul trouble. Colick ended up winning the game with a shot at the buzzer. On Saturday night, Santarsiero scored a team best 15 points in a 79-66 loss to Saint Vincent. Santarsiero was 4-7 from the field including three more shots from outside the arc.
