Geneva College Athletes of the week for the week of March 21-26, 2011:

Female:

Leah Prisuta – Softball
Sophomore – 3rd Base
Beaver Falls, PA

Leah Prisuta has been selected as the female student-athlete of the week. From her lead-off spot, Prisuta led the Golden Tornadoes to a doubleheader sweep over NAIA Point Park in Geneva’s only two games of the week. Prisuta collected five hits and was on base six times in the doubleheader. She scored three runs and drove in a pair while swiping a pair of bases. She leads Geneva for the season in batting average (.421), runs scored (15), hits (16) and stolen bases (10).

Male:

Nick Edinger – Track and Field
Sophomore – Distance
Mars, PA

Nick Edinger has been selected as the male student-athlete of the week. Edinger finished 10th overall at the very competitive Wheeling Jesuit meet on Saturday in the 5K event. Edinger qualified for the NCCAA nationals with his finishing time of 15:48.61. Competing against primarily Division I and Division II schools, Edinger finished less than ten seconds away from reaching the top five. Edinger will be making his second consecutive trip to the NCCAA track and field nationals at the end of the season.
