Geneva College Athletes of the week for the week of March 22-27, 2010:

Female:

Adriane Blake – Softball
Junior – Infielder
Glen Burnie, MD

Adriane Blake has been selected as the female student-athlete of the week. Blake helped lead Geneva’s offense to a 3-1 week with a batting average of .563 (9-16). She also drove in 11 runs on the week with three home runs. On Saturday against Ursuline, she hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game before Geneva ended up winning. In the night cap, she hit a walk-off two run blast in the bottom of the eighth for the game winner.

Tyler French – Track and Field
Freshman – Throws
Bessemer, PA

Tyler French has been selected as the male student-athlete of the week. French qualified for the NCCAA national track and field meet over the weekend in both the shot put and discus. French took first place in the shot put with a distance of 45-03.75. He also finished second in the discus with a mark of 128-07.3 as the Golden Tornadoes competed against Muskingum College. Along with teammate Dan Dillman, the duo will be headed to Taylor University in May for the nationals.
