Geneva College Athletes of the week for the week of April 26 - May 1, 2010:

Female:

Julie DiLonardo – Softball
Sophomore
Pitcher

Julie DiLonardo has been selected as the female student-athlete of the week. DiLonardo continued her mastery in the circle for the Golden Tornadoes with a total of three victories last week. For the season, DiLonardo is 20-9 and sits just one victory away from tying the Geneva single season record for wins. She is also just five strikeouts away from the single season strikeout record with 144. On Saturday, she tossed  a four-hit shutout against Waynesburg in a 1-0 victory. She then threw four shut-out innings in the night cap en route to a 9-1 Geneva win.

Stephen Polite has been selected as the male student-athlete of the week. Polite competed for the Golden Tornadoes at the 2010 Presidents’ Athletic Conference meet. Polite led the men’s team with a pair of top five performances. He finished fifth in the long jump with a distance of 20 ft – 4 in. He also placed third overall in the triple jump with a final distance of 42 ft. – 6 in. He has qualified in both events for the NCCAA national track and field meet at Taylor University coming up later this month.
