Derek Sumner - Baseball Derek Sumner has been selected as this week's Male Athlete of the Week. Sumner helped Geneva complete its regular season at 16-16 with a victory in the final game of the regular season. In a 10-9 victory over Point Park, Sumner tossed four innings of scoreless relief to earn his sixth victory of the season. In the process, Sumner struck out six batters to give him a record breaking 78 strikeouts on the season. Breaking a record that has stood since 1982, Sumner became the single season strikeout king for Geneva baseball. Later in the week, Sumner was honored by the PAC by grabbing the SAAC Scholar-Athlete of the Month award. |
