Maggie Bowersox – Volleyball Maggie Bowersox has been selected as the female student-athlete of the week. Bowersox and her Geneva College teammates split four matches at the University of Mt. Union Tournament over the weekend to open the season. Bowersox was a dominant force in the middle of the court on Friday night as the Golden Tornadoes swept a pair of matches against Allegheny and Saint Mary’s. Bowersox was named to the All-tournament team because of her outstanding play over the four matches. Her shining moment came in Geneva’s four-game victory over Saint Mary’s where she posted 16 kills to go along with a team best four blocks. On Saturday, she combined for 17 kills in Geneva’s two matches despite losses to Hope and Case Western. |

Jake McCracken – Soccer Jake McCracken has been selected as the male student-athlete of the week. McCracken helped Geneva to a 1-0-1 in the first weekend of the season with a pair of games at the Carnegie Mellon University tournament. Playing the host school on Friday night, Geneva managed a 2-2 tie with the help of McCracken, who posted the teams first goal of the season in the first half. The Golden Tornadoes picked up their first victory of the season on Saturday evening when McCracken’s penalty kick goal proved to be all the offense Geneva would need in a 1-0 victory over Otterbein. |
