Geneva College

Elise Mann & David Callahan

Geneva College Athletes of the week for the week of September 14-19, 2009:

Female:

Elise Mann – Soccer
Freshman – Forward
Colorado Springs, CO

Elise Mann has been selected as the Female Student-Athlete of the Week. Mann scored three goals and picked up an assist in a pair of Geneva victories last week. With Geneva trailing 2-1 late in the second half against Franciscan, Mann took over the game and would not allow her team to lose. She scored the tying goal and then dribbled her way through the Franciscan defense before feeding Maura Allen for the game winner with just minutes remaining in regulation. On Saturday, Mann scored her third and fourth goals of the season in helping the Golden Tornadoes cruise to a 3-0 win at Point Park University. Geneva is 4-2 on the season including back to back wins this past week.

Male:

David Callahan - Soccer
Senior – Goalkeeper
Phoenix, AZ

David Callahan has been selected as the Male Student-Athlete of the Week. Callahan posted back to back shutouts last week as Geneva defeated LaRoche and Cedarville by identical 2-0 scores. Callahan was forced to make a pair of saves in the win at LaRoche, but was much more active on Saturday against the Yellow Jackets. Making six saves and several of them coming at key moments, Callahan kept Cedarville off the board as Geneva moved to 4-2 for the season with Callahan registering a total of three shut-outs on the year.
