Transit Authority launches program for Geneva students

bcta_logo.jpgGeneva students are no longer at the mercy of rising gas prices.

The Beaver County Transit Authority has introduced a program that will let students ride for free and simultaneously experience the sights of Beaver Falls, while offering affordable prices for trips throughout Beaver County.

BCTA hopes the program will introduce students to public transportation and increase economic development for Beaver Falls merchants.

Students will get to know local merchants, and the program will act as “a vehicle to bring students and the community together,” says Jeff Schindel, public relations director.

Some students’ experiences with Beaver Falls are limited to “Sheetz runs” and shopping excursions to the Salvation Army store.

Students who present their student ID at eligible stops can ride as far north as Sheetz and as far south as Morrow’s, and anywhere in between, allowing them to view the atmosphere of the sunny city or grab a donut at Oram’s or DeAngelis, shop for shoes at Enelow’s, or admire antiques at Karen’s Furniture.

If students would rather venture outside the city, they can pay anywhere from $1.75 to $3.25 for trips throughout the county.
