2007 Commencement

Graduate Commencement:  Thursday, May 10 - 7:30 PM The ceremony will be held in Metheny Fieldhouse.  There will be a reception following the ceremony in Merriman Gym. Baccalaureate:  Friday, May 11 – 7:30 PM The ceremony will be held in Metheny Fieldhouse. Undergraduate Commencement:  Saturday, May 12 – 10:00 AM The ceremony will be held in Metheny Fieldhouse.

Tickets for Undergraduate Commencement:  A ticket is required to enter the Fieldhouse for Undergraduate Commencement.  Each student will receive 5 tickets.  Extra tickets will given out on a first come, first served basis starting May 1.  You can receive extra tickets by contacting Cathy Jackson either in person or by calling 724-847-6605 starting at 8:00 am on May 1.  Guests without tickets will be asked to watch the ceremony via closed circuit television in Northwood Hall room 13.

Accommodations for individuals with physical disabilities and special needs:

• Parking:  There are limited spaces available directly behind the Fieldhouse for individuals with physical disabilities and special needs.  If you require special parking accommodations, please contact Cathy Jackson at either cjackson@geneva.edu or 724-847-6605 before May 4 to request a parking pass.  Those with the pass displayed on their dashboard will be directed behind the Fieldhouse where staff will be present to assist you in parking, unloading, and direct you to your seats.
• Seating:  There is very limited space for wheelchairs on the floor of the Fieldhouse.   Bottom bleacher seating is available for those unable to climb bleachers.  Since space is limited, we ask that only one family member sit with this person during the ceremony.  Those requiring this special seating must contact Cathy Jackson at cjackson@geneva.edu or 724-847-6605 before May 4 to make arrangements.  Please be advised that bleacher seating is without a backrest.  If you are unable to sit in bleachers, we suggest you go to Northwood Hall, room 13, where the ceremony is televised live.  This room is air-conditioned, contains regular chairs, and convenient accessible bathrooms.
• Strollers:  There is not enough space to accommodate strollers in the gym.  There is space in the lobby of the Fieldhouse to store strollers during the ceremony.

Professional photographer:  A professional photographer will take pictures of each graduate receiving their diploma from the President at both the Graduate and Undergraduate Commencement ceremonies.  The proofs are sent to the graduate a short time after graduation; however, you are under no obligation to make a purchase.  Use of a photographer has worked well and it reduces congestion around the podium and makes a better experience for all concerned.
