China Studies Program

china.jpg

The China Studies Program seeks to expose students to a country whose people make up a fifth of the world's population. Students will learn Chinese language, history, and culture through classroom instruction, by traveling around the country to such places as Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and the Great Wall of China, and by being conversation partners with Chinese students. While studying in China, students' home base will be Xiamen University. Students will also take study trips to Xi'an (the ancient capital of China), Shanghai, and Beijing, and Hong Kong. This interdisciplinary program is designed to help students understand the complex history, culture and current issues facing China, to provide an opportunity to learn through travel and interaction with the people, and to equip them to develop a Christ-centered worldview of China.
