Financial Aid for Cardiovascular Science Program

Geneva’s Cardiovascular Science (CVS) program is now offering a combined B.S./M.S. degree in cardiovascular sciences. Students have the opportunity to earn their B.S. in biology in three years on Geneva’s Beaver Valley campus, followed by two years of training at INOVA Heart and Vascular Institute (IHVI) in Falls Church, Va. outside Washington DC. Students can also earn a certificate in cardiovascular sciences after one year of training or enter the M.S. program after graduating with their B.S. in biology or other related disciplines (e.g., BSN).  See the CVS web page for more information.

Financial Aid for the program:

Certificate program

  • Geneva student enrolling  in CVS after three years at Geneva:
    • Can receive normal Geneva aid in fall and spring and pro-rated need-based amount in final summer because summer cost is lower
  • Have already earned a bachelor’s degree from any college:
    • Can only receive student loans
      • Undergraduate loan limits because the certificate program is NOT a graduate degree program. See the federal loan page for details.
  • Private educational loans are available, but we recommend that you look at the federal loans first.

Master’s Degree Program

  • Geneva student enrolling in master’s degree after three years at Geneva:
    • First year - can receive normal Geneva aid in fall and spring and pro-rated need-based amount in first summer because summer cost is lower. Student loans are at the undergraduate level.
    • Second year – Federal Direct Loans are available, generally at the graduate level.
  • Have already earned a bachelor’s degree from any college:
    • Federal Direct Loans are available, generally at the graduate level.

Financial Aid Process:

  1. Be accepted into the program.
  2. File the FAFSA form at www.fafsa.gov.
  3. Follow up with Financial Aid Office (724.847.6530) with any questions upon receiving your award letter and further instructions.
