Admissions Procedures

Admission Requirements

  1. Applicants must have completed a B.S. degree in biology, nursing (B.S.N. or B.S./R.N.N.), or related science field.
  2. Have a minimum GPA = 3.0 in their undergraduate work.
  3. Applicants must take the GRE Exam.
  4. The student must visit the cardiac catheterization labs at Inova Heart and Vascular Institute campus for a one day orientation. To arrange a visit, contact the Educational Coordinator, Ms. Martha Breads (martha.breads@inova.org).

To apply for admission for the certificate in cardiovascular sciences the student must submit:

  1. a completed application form (submitted online).
  2. an official copy of transcript(s) from the institution granting the B.S. degree in biology or related field.
  3. completed letters of reference forms (two needed) mailed to:

Applications are accepted beginning December 15. Admission decisions will begin February 1.

Please do not contact the admissions department at Geneva College for an application. The application process is conducted by Dr. David Essig (College Coordinator for Cardiovascular Technology) in the Department of Biology. To receive an application packet, please contact the Geneva College Department of Biology secretary (724-847-6730). With the exception of the transcripts, the completed application forms can be received via fax (724-847-6900).

General Biology 8 hours
Organic Chemistry 8 hours
Anatomy and Physiology 8 hours
Physics 8 hours
Genetics 4 hours
Neuroscience (Preferred) 4 hours
Statistics (Preferred) 4 hours

 


 

Point of Excellence

Among a recent sampling of chemistry graduates, 83% were able to work in an internship or research experience during college years, and 100% had employment in their field or were accepted into graduate school within three months of graduation.
