Credit Options

The following opportunities are presented for students to earn additional course credits where entrance, elective, and/or graduation deficiencies exist.  Other options and strategies not listed may be obtained from a DCP enrollment counselor.

COLLEGE LEVEL EXAMINATION PROGRAM (CLEP) and
PROFICIENCY EXAMINATION PROGRAM (PEP)

CLEP / PEP are national programs for credit-by-examination for college level learning achieved outside a formal educational setting.  Geneva accepts a maximum of 30 CLEP credits.  For transferable credit, the score must meet Geneva College criteria.  Additional information is available through the DCP Office at 800-576-3111.

ACADEMIC CREDIT BY EXAMINATION
A student may receive credit or course exemption by passing a comprehensive examination approved by a Geneva College department chair.  The eligible courses are determined by the department where offered and the examination may be taken only once for each course.  Examination and credit fee schedules may be obtained from the Registrar 724-847-6576.

SUPPLEMENTARY COURSES
Students who need additional academic credits to fulfill the 126 required for graduation may take additional courses at Geneva College or at other accredited colleges. Prior to enrolling in other accredited college courses, students must contact the assistant registrar 800-576-3111 to certify that the course(s) selected meets degree requirements.  Once enrolled in the DCP, students must also make arrangements with the assistant registrar prior to registering for courses elsewhere.

Students are responsible for having official transcripts of grades and credits earned at other institutions forwarded to the Degree Completion Program, Geneva College, 3200 College Avenue, Beaver Falls, PA 15010-3599.
