Chemical engineers develop and manufacture better plastics, paints, fuels, fibers, medicines, fertilizers, semiconductors, paper and other kinds of chemicals by carrying out chemical reactions and purifications.

Chemical Engineering Careers

Chemical engineers find careers in environmental , materials, petroleum and biomedical engineering. The Engineering Department works closely with the Chemistry Department in offering the chemical engineering concentration.

Program Requirements

In addition to Geneva and general engineering core classes, students in the Chemical Engineering concentration take classes in mathematics, science, and chemical engineering. Example chemical engineering courses include:

  • Process Analysis (CHE 301)
  • Unit Operations (CHE 302)
  • Advanced Laboratory- Physical/Inorganic (CHE 312)
  • Mass Transfer (CHE 315)
  • Reactor Design (CHE 401 )
