Current Projects
- Faculty Representative for the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship
- Tablet PC Pilot
The Computer Science and Engineering faculty are currently involved in a project to improve classroom interaction using Tablet PCs. To this end each faculty member is using a Tablet PC for lecture presentation, expanding our knowledge and skills with this particular technology. In addition, a number of Tablet PCs have been purchased for student use. These machines allow us to test student reactions to the Tablet PC features, especially the pen-input feature which allows drawing and handwriting for sketching and diagramming exercises. In addition, we are making use of the wireless network to provide interactive feedback during class.
- Alice Camp
I am currently in conversation with the local leadership for the Girl Scouts of America, to try a summer day camp using the Alice 3D graphics environment, provided free by Carnegie Mellon University. We hope to use this to interest girls in computer science.
