Founders Day

Join us for Founders Day 2010!

Geneva College has a rich history. Since 1848, the college has touched the lives of thousands of young men and women. Founders Day is a time to remember the commitment of our founders, to recognize achievements and contributions to Geneva College, and to look to the future with hope through Jesus Christ.

Schedule:

Friday, April 16
  10 a.m. – 7 p.m. History of Basketball Exhibit
      Metheny Fieldhouse
Ian Naismith, grandson of the inventor of basketball, shares exclusive memorabilia and artifacts in this 2,000-square foot exhibit. He will also provide evidence reconfirming Geneva’s title as the Birthplace of College Basketball.

  5:30 p.m.  President’s Dinner
      President’s Dining Room, Alexander Hall
Get reacquainted with old friends and fellow classmates at this dinner hosted by President Kenneth A. Smith. $15/person. Reservations required.
  7:30 p.m. Coffee Hour
      Riverview Café, Student Center
Share memories over a cup of coffee or tea, and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of Geneva’s own coffee shop. Hosted by the alumni relations office.
     
Saturday, April 17
  8:30-9:30 a.m  Prayer Breakfast 
      Benedum Room, Alexander Hall
Join your fellow alumni for a breakfast buffet and a time of prayer. Dr. Dean Smith ’65 will lead us as we lift up Geneva’s students, faculty and staff and ask for the Lord’s blessing on the college as we move forward with our mission.
$8/person. Reservations required.
  9:30-11 a.m. Registration & Continental Breakfast
      McCartney Library
We’ll begin our day in one of the most beautiful buildings on campus. Pick up your nametag and schedule, and catch up with old friends over coffee and our continental breakfast.
  10-11 a.m. Campus Tours
Leaving from McCartney Library
Current students will lead tours to share the new, as well as the familiar, beauty of Geneva’s campus. Golf cart transportation will be available for those in need of assistance.
10-11 a.m. Hallway of History Tour

Experience 162 years of Christ-centered education at Geneva College.
10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Student Engineering Exhibit
Rapp Center
A group of current engineering students will be traveling to the Society of Automotive Engineers Baja Competition to be held in Bellingham, Washington in May. Come witness what our students are learning and creating.

10 a.m. Ministry Reunion
Skye Lounge, Student Center
If you have served or are serving in any type of full-time Christian service, join fellow alumni and Geneva’s Bible department faculty for a reunion in Skye Lounge.
10:30 a.m. Reflection Service
Skye Lounge, Student Center
Alumni, students, faculty and staff will join together in this time of worship and reflection.
11:30 a.m. Reunion Luncheon
Alexander Dining Commons, Alexander Hall
This is an opportunity for all alumni to fellowship with classmates and members of other reunion years. Share memories, hear an update on Geneva College, relax and have a great time! $5/person. Reservations required.

Political science professor Dr. Copeland will share the history and purpose behind Pro Christo et Patria and its role in the development of Geneva College.

The campus will gather to honor Geneva alumni and friends who have served our country in the military.
5:30 p.m. Alumni Dinner
Alexander Dining Commons
Distinguished Service Award recipients will be announced and honored at this annual dinner. This is a great time of fellowship with classmates and fellow alumni. There will also be a special performance by The Madrigal Singers.
$15/person. Reservations required.
