Freshman Expedition is an outdoor orientation experience offered to incoming first-year students through Geneva College’s Pisgah Program. The trip is specifically designed to help incoming first-year Geneva students transition into college life, establish healthy goals, develop relationships and grow in their relationship with the Lord.

Although Freshman Expedition is not a required for incoming students, it is strongly encouraged by Geneva College for a successful freshman transition.

Beginner and skilled adventurers are welcome, and no experience is necessary. All gear to be used during the trip, with the exception of some personal items and all personal clothing, is included in the price.

What to expect

What students have to say about Freshman Expedition…

Challenge trip
  • "The trip made me think a lot about my identity in Christ, as well as my priorities. I learned a lot about my capabilities and how to relate to others. I will be starting my classes with more confidence and determination and less anxiety."
  • "It was a blast! The combination of physical and mental challenges, with teamwork and stuff, was highly enjoyable. I loved every minute."
  • "I think I found that I'm often capable of more that I think, and that I just need to rise to meet the challenge. I am going to be much more aware of my attitudes and will also be more confident in my transition."
  • "I was really scared to go on the trip because I had never been hard-core camping before, but the instructors were great. In the end it was facing my fears that made the trip so great."
  • "I LOVED being surrounded by creation—the stars, the clouds the trees. I felt like God had put everything there just for my enjoyment."
