Film Fest 08 Rules & Regulations

  1. All entries must be received by Tuesday, February 8th at 4:30 p.m. in the Student Activities Office.  Late entries will NOT be accepted.
  2. Due to recent changes in the Film Fest format, total airing time of all films will be between 80 and 100 minutes. Only the best films will be played during this timeframe.
  3. All entries must be in DVD format. The DVD must be labeled with the following: group member names, exact running time from start to finish (mm:ss), and the title of the film.  Each entry must be accompanied by the entry form, which can be picked up in the New Student Activities Office.
  4. Multiple submissions by a single director will be permitted, but there must be NO SEQUELS. Students can submit multiple independent films, but students who submit sequels have an increased chance of having their films cut.
  5. All significant actors and actresses must be currently enrolled at Geneva College for the Spring 2008 semester or must be a staff or faculty member of Geneva College.  If one of the actors or actresses is not a current member of Geneva College in the above ways, they may not appear in the film for more than two (2:00) minutes.
  6. Film entries may be no longer than twelve minutes (12:00) in length. Any film that is over this length, even by a second, will be disqualified.
  7. Film entries must comply with Geneva College Community Standards as defined on pages 146-169 of the Geneva College Student Handbook.  Films that do not comply with these standards will be disqualified.
  8. All qualified entries will be judged. The Student Activities Office reserves the right to limit the number of films shown during the public presentation.
  9. The types of awards issued are decided after viewing the films for Film Fest 2008. Winners are decided by a majority vote of the viewing panel which consists of Geneva faculty, staff, Student Activities Coordinators, as well as some current students.
