The Genevans, the student choir of Geneva College, is heir to a tradition of choral singing dating from the early years of the college over a century and a half ago. The mission of the choir expresses Geneva’s belief that music, as one of God’s finest gifts, meets a deep, universal need in people. The choir’s repertoire is broad and varied, reflecting the belief that “all of life, always and everywhere, is life in the presence of God.”
The Genevans have been heard in such prestigious venues as the Royal Albert Hall in London (with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra), Westminster Abbey, the Church of the Madeleine in Paris, St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, the Friedenskirche in Potsdam, St. Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh, and St. Hedwig’s Cathedral in Krakow, Poland. They have twice represented the United State in the “Mai Lyon” Festival in Li\yon, France, and have sung in the Chapels of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. They have presented a number of concerts in Heinz Chapel, Pittsburgh, and have sung for the National Association of Evangelicals in Orlando, Florida.
Robert M. Copeland has directed The Genevans in some 545 concerts in his 26 years as their director.
