Geneva’s history major honors the liberal arts tradition by offering students a wide range of historical approaches. Students experience a faculty with diversified expertise and interest including United States, European and World history. In addition to these courses, students can participate in a variety of study abroad programs around the world. The aim of the program is to prepare students with critical interpretation and expression skills for the study of human history.
Program Requirements
A total of 40 credit hours distributed as follows:
1. Nine hours of the European sequence (HIS 220, 221, 222)
2. Nine hours of the U.S. sequence (HIS 250, 251, 252)
3. Introduction to History HIS 201, three hours
4. Six hours from HIS 260, 270, 280, 290
5. Six hours of 300-level courses
6. Three hours of HIS 401
7. Senior Seminar HIS 421, three hours
8. History and Theory HIS 422, one hour
