Human Services Major
Geneva College’s human services major is designed to provide students with a theoretical and practical framework that will prepare them for positions in a wide array of agencies, including child and youth services, probation, welfare services, government agencies and community centers. These positions require a thorough understanding of public policy regarding administration and implementation of services as well as professional skills within the helping relationship. Geneva’s program provides this training with an emphasis on the consideration of the role of the Christian in service.
Additionally, the human services major draws from the academic disciplines of sociology and psychology as well as focused courses in the domain of social work. Seniors in the major experience an intensive capstone semester of internship in a local service agency. With minimal coursework in biology, human services majors can apply for graduate school in social work.

Some students choose to attend graduate school primarily seeking an MSW (Master’s of Social Work). For those interested in a career in counseling, Geneva College offers a Master of Science in Counseling program.
