Beaver Falls, PA – Coming off an 8-4 season and its first trip to the NAIA national play-offs in seven seasons, Geneva’s football team has appeared in the NAIA top 25 for the 13th consecutive season. The Golden Tornadoes are listed at #20 in the NAIA pre-season coach’s poll. NAIAFootball.net saw things a bit more optimistic for the Golden Tornadoes with a pre-season ranking of #12.
Geneva is scheduled to kick-off the new season at home on September 2nd against 2005 PAC champions Thiel College. While Geneva finished the 2005 season at 8-4, the Tomcats came in with a 13-1 overall record.
Three-time defending national champion Carroll College, MT received 15 of 16 first-place votes to claim the pre-season top ranking. Eight-time MSFA Mideast League defending champs St. Francis, IN claimed the other first place vote and came in ranked number two in the pre-season poll. Geneva will meet St. Francis on November 11th at home in the regular season finale.
Walsh University, Geneva’s homecoming opponent on October 14th is ranked 13th in the pre-season poll.
Geneva is the first college in the country to offer a five-year B.S. /M.S. degree in cardiovascular science technology through Inova Heart and Vascular Institute in Virginia.
