Bethany, WV – Geneva will be joining the Presidents’ Athletic Conference next year, but on Friday the Golden Tornadoes got a sneak peak of one of their future opponents in the PAC. Geneva provided its best effort of the season in cruising to a 4-0 victory over Bethany College. The victory helped Geneva improve to 3-2 on the young season, including a pair of victories in as many days.
Coming off a sluggish 2-1 victory over Point Park on Thursday, Geneva raised its intensity and controlled the play against Bethany from start to finish. Geneva attempted 30 shots, including nine shots on goal in the victory. It was Jenna Witkowski’s fourth goal of the young season that got Geneva on the board in the 15th minute. Witkowski then set up goals from Amanda Munsch and Kelsey Anderson to extend the lead. Finally, Nicole Beadling found the net in the 84th minute to close out the scoring.
Amanda Weaver was never seriously tested in the Geneva net. However, the sophomore did turn away three shots in picking up the first shut-out of the season.
The Golden Tornadoes will return home on Tuesday night to host St. Vincent College in another future PAC match-up.
Geneva is the first college in the country to offer a five-year B.S. /M.S. degree in cardiovascular science technology through Inova Heart and Vascular Institute in Virginia.
