Houghton, NY – In the past 24 hours, Geneva’s volleyball team visited three campuses throughout the state of New York. Coming off a 3-1 victory over Daemen on Friday night, Geneva was given the task of playing at both Roberts Wesleyan and Houghton on Saturday. After fall 3-0 to Roberts Wesleyan early in the day, the Golden Tornadoes rallied past Houghton 3-2 in the night cap to win two out of three matches on the weekend.
The two-match split on Saturday moved Geneva’s overall record to 5-4, including a 2-1 mark in the AMC North.
Marisa Barickman was one of the lone bright spots in the loss to Roberts Wesleyan early on Saturday. She continued to lead the offense with 12 kills in the loss. Blair Bruce chipped in with six kills and 15 digs, while Allison Seldomridge also picked up 15 digs.
In the night cap, Geneva lost game one to Houghton and fell behind two games to one before rallying for the victory. The Golden Tornadoes took the fifth and deciding game by the score of 15-11. It was Geneva’s second five-game victory in the past three days.
The Golden Tornadoes will travel to Point Park for another AMC North battle on Tuesday. Geneva will not return home for a match until September 28th when it hosts Mt. Vernon Nazarene.
Geneva is the first college in the country to offer a five-year B.S. /M.S. degree in cardiovascular science technology through Inova Heart and Vascular Institute in Virginia.
