Bats Cooled, Win Streak Snapped by Seton Hill

Beaver Falls, PAGeneva’s baseball team came into Friday’s doubleheader as a hot baseball team, which was playing its best baseball of the season. At the end of the day, Geneva’s win streak of six games and its hot bats were cooled with a pair of losses to Seton Hill University by the scores of 6-2 and 8-0. The losses dropped Geneva’s overall record to 21-14.

In game one, Geneva could muster just a pair of fifth inning runs on a two-run single off the bat of Derek Sumner. Colella started game one on the mound for Geneva and was effective, but came away with a hard luck loss.

In game two, Sumner started and got even less offensive support and an 8-0 loss. In fact, Geneva got just one hit, which came in the seventh inning off the bat of Matt Colella, which broke up a potential no-hit bid.

The Golden Tornadoes will take another shot at Seton Hill on Saturday as both teams will play a pair of games in Greensburg, PA. Geneva remains a top the AMC North standings and will get back into conference play with four games against Malone College next weekend.
