CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS CRUISE INTO IUP
Beaver Falls, PA – Geneva’s men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled to Indiana, PA on Saturday to compete in the IUP Cross Country Invitational. The men’s team finished sixth out of seven schools, while the women were third in the field of seven.
In men’s action, Phillip Falk was Geneva’s top finisher in 33rd place with a time of 28:49 on the 8K course. Teammate and brother Josh Falk finished 48th in a time of 29:31. Ryan Curley (68th) also broke the 32 minute barrier at 31:53.
Geneva’s women were led by Susan Fletcher’s 13 place finish in a time of 25:15. In fact, Geneva placed five runners in the top 25 including Beth Bartolomeo (15th), Laura Seyler (17th), Rebecca VanRegenmorter (18th) and Sara Morrison (25th). Geneva’s women finished the overall standings with 80 points, while IUP and Slippery Rock tied for the overall victory with 28 points each. Geneva’s men posted a score of 171 points, while Slippery Rock brought home first place honors with an impressive 15 total points.
Geneva’s cross country teams will be back in action next Saturday when the men and women head to Allegheny College.
