Todd Allen honored as 2007 Minority Achiever

Allen, ToddBeaver Falls, Pa. – Geneva College communications professor Todd Allen was honored as a 2007 Minority Achiever by Minority Opinion magazine.

Allen was among five recipients recognized at a luncheon hosted by the Pittsburgh-based publication. The keynote speaker of the luncheon was Dr. Ralph Proctor, vice president & chief diversity officer of the Community College of Allegheny County.

“I am truly honored to have been recognized by Minority Opinion magazine with this award and by Geneva College for nominating me,” says Allen. “I feel so blessed to have been able to serve others through my work on campus and in the community and to be recognized for such is rewarding and humbling."

Allen taught his first courses at Geneva in 1996, including intercultural communication. He now teaches argument and debate, communication process, group dynamics and senior seminar as well as directs the college’s forensics team. He is currently working toward his doctorate at Duquesne University. Allen also organized the Civil Rights Bus Tour, a yearly trip open to Geneva’s faculty, staff, students and members of the community.

Also recognized at the Minority Achiever luncheon were Benjamin O. Gordon and Dr. Kathy W. Humphrey of the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Carlos Mamani of Gannon University and Michelle Cheeks-Nowlin of Citizens Bank.
