NCCAA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT FIELD SET,
GENEVA DRAWS #7 SEED, FACES COLORADO CHRISTIAN
Beaver Falls, PA – Geneva’s baseball team has been waiting patiently for two weeks for the start of the NCCAA national tournament. That wait is almost over as the 2008 tournament is set to begin on Wednesday with a 10-team, double elimination format. Over the weekend, the Golden Tornadoes did learn they will face Colorado Christian (17-42) in the opening round. Geneva, which drew the #7 seed, will face 10th seeded Christian Colorado, an NCAA Division II program which won the its central regional to earn a trip to the tournament.
Geneva, which finished the regular season at 16-16, will have had 16 days off prior to the start of the national tournament. The tournament, which will be held at Bob Cene Park in Struthers, Oh, will feature several familiar faces for the Golden Tornadoes. Former foes of the American Mideast Conference Malone, Mt. Vernon Nazarene and Cedarville have all qualified for the tournament. Malone, which finished the regular season at 39-14 was named the top seed, while Mt. Vernon Nazarene earned a number two seed with its 35-20 record.
The 2008 NCCAA tournament will begin on Wednesday at 11:00 am with a trio of games. The Golden Tornadoes will begin play at 1:30 pm against Colorado Christian with the winner to meet Mt. Vernon Nazarene at 7:00 pm.
Among a recent sampling of chemistry graduates, 83% were able to work in an internship or research experience during college years, and 100% had employment in their field or were accepted into graduate school within three months of graduation.
