TITLE TIME, GENEVA WINS HIRAM TOURNAMENT WITH
Beaver Falls, PA– Geneva’s women’s volleyball team won twice on Saturday and as a result took first place at the Hiram College Invitational. Coming into Saturday’s action having split a pair of matches on Friday, the Golden Tornadoes defeated Ursuline 3-1 and Kenyon 3-0. The sweep improved Geneva’s overall record to 5-3.
In the first match, the Golden Tornadoes featured four players with double figure kill numbers. Adriane Blake led the way with 18 kills, while teammates Elizabeth Fisher (14), Rachel Kuegler (10) and Michelle Zimmovan (10) were impressive supporting actresses. Brandi Snavely compiled 56 assists in the victory and Blake led the defense with 28 digs.
In match number two, Blake threw down 16 kills and Snavely added 34 more assists to her season total.
Geneva will enjoy an extended break before beginning PAC action on September 17th. The Golden Tornadoes will travel to Washington, Pa to battle W & J and Westminster. On September 20th, Geneva will open its home schedule against PAC foes Saint Vincent and Thiel.
Geneva College was selected to join the Undergraduate Microbial Genome Annotation Program, an initiative of the Department of Energy’s Joint Genome Institute (JGI).
