LONDINO SHINES IN LEADING GENEVA TO SCORELESS TIE AT FRANCISCAN
Steubenville, OH - Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Londino turned away all seven shots on goal that she faced and extended her personal scoreless streak to 205 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal. While Londino was busy keeping the ball out of the net, Geneva’s offense could not solve Franciscan’s defense and the game ended in a scoreless tie. The tie moved Geneva’s overall record to 3-2-1. Londino collected her fourth shut-out of the season to help the Golden Tornadoes to more victories in the first six matches of 2008 than they had throughout the entire 2007 season.
Geneva out shot Franciscan 10-7 in the match, but neither team could find the net. Londino preserved the scoreless tie with the save of the game late in regulation.
The Golden Tornadoes will go back on the road this weekend when they travel to Heidelberg College on Saturday afternoon for a 2 pm kick-off. Geneva will return home next Wednesday to host Pitt-Greensburg.
For the second year in a row, Geneva’s ABET-accredited engineering program placed in U.S. News & World Report’s Top 100 Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs in the nation.
