VAN “RUN” GENMORTER LEADS GENEVA WOMEN
TO FOURTH PLACE, MEN TAKE SEVENTH
Latrobe, PA – Senior Rebecca VanRegenmorter stole the show for Geneva’s cross country teams on Saturday at Saint Vincent College. Breaking the 20-minute barrier, VanRegenmorter finished the 5K race in a time of 19:56, which was good enough for third place out of a field of 123 runners. Teammate Nicole Okerlund placed eighth overall with a time of 20:57. The senior duo led Geneva to a fourth place overall finish out of a field of 12 schools.
Emily Hoobler crossed the line in 26th position, while Sarah Davis (32) and Sarah Wilson (64) rounded out Geneva’s top five. The women finished with a point total of 113. Franciscan University won the women’s overall event with 41 total points.
In men’s action, Geneva posted 159 total points including top 15 performances from Josh Gunnett (9) and Josh Falk (14). Gunnett crossed the line with a time of 27:30, while Falk followed closely behind at 28:02. Other runners that scored on Saturday included Nathan Mansor (48), Caleb Pearson (49) and Charles Walters (62).
Geneva’s cross country team will help host the Homecoming 5K on College Hill next week as part of the 2008 homecoming celebrations on Geneva’s campus. The Golden Tornadoes will get back to competitive racing on October 11th when they travel to Carnegie Mellon University.
