SEASON BEST FINISHES ALL AROUND AS
MEN AND WOMEN EACH FINISH 3Rd AT WALSH
Canton, OH –In some ways Geneva’s men’s and women’s cross country team pulled off a perfect meet on Saturday at Walsh University. Although each team only managed a third place finish, each member of Geneva’s teams picked up season best times in the women’s 5K and the men’s 8K.
The Golden Tornadoes finished in third place in both events behind overall champion Walsh University, which took both the men’s and women’s overall top prizes.
In men’s action, Josh Gunnett and Josh Falk finished one and two for the Golden Tornadoes. Gunnett crossed the line in third place while Falk came in close behind in fifth position.
Geneva’s women were again led by the tandem of Rebecca VanRegenmorter and Nicole Okerlund. VanRegenmorter broke the 20 minute barrier for the second time this season with an impressive 19:19 finish. Okerlund narrowly missed coming in less than 20 minutes at 20:11. VanRegenmorter finished in fifth place while Okerlund also broke the top ten in 9th position.
Geneva will enjoy a weekend off next week to prepare for the Presidents’ Athletic Conference championships at Thomas More College on November 1st.
