WOMEN SHOW WELL WITH 11th PLACE FINISH, FALK
AND GUNNETT PLACE IN TOP 35
Cedarville, OH – Geneva’s cross country season came to an end on Saturday at the 2008 NCCAA national meet at Cedarville University. Geneva’s women, who were competing as a team, finished in 11th place overall out of 19 competing schools. On the men’s side, it was only Josh Falk and Josh Gunnett that qualified for the national meet on an individual basis.
Geneva’s women picked up a total of 335 points, including a 25th place finish from Rebecca VanRegenmorter with a time of 19:36 out of 139 competing runners. Nicole Okerlund was Geneva’s next finisher with a 54th place showing in a time of 20:43. Other scoring competitors included Sarah Davis (82), Emily Hoobler (86) and Sarah Wilson (105).
Geneva’s dynamic duo of Josh Falk and Josh Gunnett each performed exceptionally well with a pair of top 35 finishes. Falk led the way with his 22nd place finish and a time of 27:07 against a total field 126 runners. Teammate, Josh Gunnett finished 25th in a time of 27:58.
Cedarville University took home the national title on the women’s side with Malone College capturing the men’s championship trophy.
Geneva's Communication Disorders students have attended graduate programs all over the U.S., at schools such as the University of Iowa, California State University - Fullerton, Gallaudet University and University of Pittsburgh.
