FOOTBALL SCHEDULED RELEASED FOR 2009

CAMPAIGN, GT’S LOOKING TO BUILD ON COMEBACK SEASON

Beaver Falls, PA – When people look back at the 2008 Geneva College football season one word will come to mind, comeback. The Golden Tornadoes opened last season with losses in five of their first six games. Geneva rallied in the final four weeks of the season to crawl back to the .500 mark with four consecutive victories, including a win over eventual PAC champion Thomas More College. Amazingly, Geneva was the only team in any level of NCAA football, with the exception of Rutgers, to start the season at 1-5 and win the rest of their games. The Golden Tornadoes would have finished in a second place tie in the PAC standings had it not been for Geneva’s provisional status.

With the momentum of the best turnaround in 119 years of football on College Hill in the rearview mirror, the Golden Tornadoes are set for another chapter of football in the fall of 2009. Geneva College released its upcoming schedule this week which features a ten game schedule beginning on September 5th. The new schedule features a homecoming match-up with long time rival Grove City on October 10th and a rare home and home series with Saint Vincent College. Once again, the Golden Tornadoes will end the regular season against the Titans of Westminster College in New Wilmington on November 14th.
