| Geneva Set for NCCAA Post-Season |
Geneva will be facing a Roberts Wesleyan College team that finished the regular season with an overall record of 16-11. Only a tie-breaker decision kept the Raiders from advancing to this week’s American Mideast Conference tournament. “We are going to be facing a very talented team,” said head coach Jeff Santarsiero. “They (Roberts Wesleyan) are big and strong and we will have to be at the top of our game to compete.” Certainly no strangers to one another, Geneva and Roberts Wesleyan have been playing each since the first meeting back in 1980. Geneva was a member of the American Mideast Conference from 1998-2006 where it faced the Raiders at least twice each year. “We have a pretty good history with each other,” said Santarsiero. “There were a lot of long bus trips home from Rochester back in the AMC days.” The winner of Wednesday night’s semi-final will meet Nyack in the regional finals. That championship game will most likely have to wait until the first weekend in March to allow Nyack the chance to finish its conference tournament obligations. Geneva College is a comprehensive Christian college of the arts, sciences and professional studies. Founded in the tradition of the Reformed Christian faith, Geneva prepares students to serve Christ in all areas of society: work, family and the church.
