Geneva Split Ends Florida Swing at 7-5

Kissimmee, FL – The Geneva College softball team split a doubleheader on Monday to end its Florida trip with a 7-5 overall record. The Golden Tornadoes opened the day with a 7-1 victory over McDaniel before dropping a 13-2 decision to Wheaton College. The split pushed its overall record to 7-5 as the Golden Tornadoes return home on Tuesday.

Leah Prisuta had two hits and reached base three times in helping pace the Geneva offense in game one. Two run singles from Christine Fuqua and Leanne Abate highlighted a five run fourth inning. Martha Adams, Ashley Davis and Prisuta each had two hits in the 12 hit attack.  Julie DiLonardo went the distance in picking up her fifth victory of the season.

The Florida trip may have lasted one game too long for Geneva as the Golden Tornadoes suffered a 13-2 setback in a game that featured six errors. Wheaton scored nine unearned runs in the first two innings to put the game away. Leah Prisuta scored an unearned run for Geneva in the first inning and Lori Deem’s RBI double in the fourth inning plate the second Geneva run.

The Golden Tornadoes begin the northern portion of their schedule on Saturday when they host Hiram College at 1 pm.
