Beaver Falls, PA – Mike Jeffreys only took the mound one time last week for the Geneva College baseball team. But his outing was so impressive it warranted player of the week honors from the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.
Jeffreys took the mound against the sizzling offense of Westminster College in the second game of Saturday’s conference doubleheader. The Titans has scored 52 runs in the previous three games but Jeffreys silenced their bats in a 2-0 complete game shut-out. Jeffreys allowed just three hits while strikeout out seven in picking up his fourth victory of the season.
For the year, Jeffreys has a 4-3 record with a 2.92 ERA in 49.1 innings of work. He has surrendered just 33 hits and walked only 12 while striking out 55 for the Golden Tornadoes.
Geneva will be back in action this weekend with a three-game series against Grove City beginning with a single game at Geneva on Friday at 4 pm.
