Jeffreys Gets Top Billing for Post-Season Honors

Beaver Falls, PA – Mike Jeffreys was the most consistent performer for the 2012 Geneva College baseball team. While posting a 7-4 record and a 3.69 ERA on the mound, Jeffreys was also effective with the bat finishing the campaign with a .330 batting average with 16 RBI. Producing in the very difficult role of a utility player, Jeffreys was appropriately named a first-team PAC all-conference performer in that utility role. Jeffreys was also selected as a first team honoree on the NCCAA East regional team. Joining Jeffreys as an NCCAA all-region selection was senior Adam Scheiderer. Scheiderer hit .310 with 21 RBI this season while holding down Geneva’s catcher position. Scheiderer was also a PAC honorable mention selection.

Senior Joel Gatti was a second team All-PAC selection after leading Geneva’s offense with a .351 average and a team best 39 hits and 22 RBI. Gatti was joined by Mike Suluva as NCCAA all-region honorable mention selections. Suluva, one of Geneva’s seven seniors, hit .296 with 18 runs scored for the Golden Tornadoes.

Geneva finished the 2012 campaign with an overall record of 15-21 and a mark of 9-15 in its first year of eligibility in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference. PAC champion Westminster enjoyed player of the year honors from Tim Wiand while also securing coach of the year honors by Geneva graduate Carmen Nocera.
