Leaders Serving Beaver County

Starcher, Keith A Geneva College faculty member is spearheading an effort to grow the local economy.

Leaders Serving Beaver County (LSBC) a group of Christian business leaders, is sponsoring a series of seminars for Beaver County entrepreneurs to further the development of new businesses in the community.

“We wondered what we could do to encourage people to start businesses in Beaver County,” says Keith Starcher, an assistant business professor and the founder of LSBC. “Then we came up with the idea to have an entrepreneur summit along with several workshops.”

LSBC has about 70 members. The group meets as a whole several times a year, and smaller groups of about eight to 10 hold monthly meetings. About half of those who attend are small business owners. U.S. Congresswoman Melissa Hart sends a representative to many of LSBC’s meetings, as do many other businesses, non-profits, and churches.

“LSBC is a place where leaders in Christian business can meet together and encourage the marketplace to grow,” says Starcher. “We want to see this county revitalized.”

Starcher founded the organization in part to develop a spiritual influence in the marketplace.

“The Bible is not only a handbook for your life,” Starcher says. “It is also a handbook for business, school, etc. God is creative and he can give us creative ideas for business.”
