Meet the Assistant Coaches
NATE CONLEY One of Geneva's all-time greats on the court has returned to College Hill as Jeff Santarsiero's top assistant for the upcoming season. Nate Conley returns to the Golden Tornadoes basketball program after graduating from Geneva in 2006. Conley was a four-year starter at Geneva and amassed some of the most impressive statistics in the school’s history. He finished his career with 1,166 points (22nd overall) and 652 assists (4th overall). Conley played from 2002-06 and led his Golden Tornadoes to four consecutive post-season appearances. After graduation, Conley began his coaching career last season as a graduate assistant at Seton Hill University. “We are so fortunate to have someone like Nate to step in so quickly,” said Santarsiero. “He certainly knows our system and was such a big part of our program for so long that it makes perfect sense for us to bring him back. Having that one year of coaching experience under a guy like Tony Morocco at Seton Hill will prove to be invaluable. We are very excited to have him back on College Hill.” JASON MCCOWIN Another new face joined Geneva’s coaching staff last season. After spending five years as the head coach at New Brighton High School, Jason McCowin returned to his alma mater to serve as an assistant under Coach Santarsiero last season. The 1993 Geneva graduate played for the Golden Tornadoes under Jerry Slocum from 1988-90. A two-year letter winner while at Geneva, McCowin will continue his work as a teacher in the New Brighton School District. Prior to Geneva, McCowin played and attended Blackhawk High School. Currently, he and his wife Lisa reside in Economy Township. Beginning his seventh season as a Geneva assistant, Keith Humphries has become a fixture on the Golden Tornadoes sideline. Previously an assistant on the football coaching staff, Humphries spent four seasons as the head football coach at Beaver Falls High School, which he guided to the WPIAL championship game in 2001. He is currently serving as an assistant football coach at Sto-Rox High School. A graduate of Aliquippa High School, Humphries played Division I football at Louisville University. Santarsiero added Humphries to his staff to improve guard play and that is exactly what has happened. Humphries and his wife Virta reside in New Brighton with their daughter, Seqeena. |
