Read the article “Is Leading Your Calling?” and follow the writing sample instructions. Attach a cover page that includes your name and the date, and email your writing sample as an attachment to msol@geneva.edu

Writing sample instructions: In response to the article, write an essay of approximately two or three pages, double spaced, in which you address each of the following:

• The author's primary purpose for writing this article. In other words, the article's theme.
• The issues or topics that the author discusses to support this central focus.
• The conclusions drawn by the author regarding this theme.
• Your response to the author's position(s).
• Broader implications or applications for the issues raised by the author.

Summarize, in your own words, the points made by the author as you respond to the prompts. In addition to the body of your essay, your essay should incorporate an introduction and a conclusion. The use of direct quotes should be limited.

The Master of Science in Organizational Leadership Program is a "writing intensive" experience. The evaluation of student learning in the program is regularly accomplished through submission of papers and other written projects. It is our desire that each student successfully completes the MSOL program. As a part of the MSOL program admission process, and in place of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or other standardized tests, each applicant submits a writing sample.

Application Procedure

The required components of a completed application are as follows:
