Meet the Coach Bret Otte – Cross Country and Track and Field (Men and Women)
Otte has seen his women’s cross country team twice ranked in the NAIA top 25 in the last three years, along with several national cross country qualifiers to the NAIA national meet. In track, records continue to fall at a staggering rate on both the men’s and women’s side. The highlight of Otte’s career came in 2003, when he led the women’s track and field team to the school’s first American Mideast Conference title. This past spring saw a record nine athletes qualify for the NAIA national track and field meet. Otte’s coaching career began after he graduated from Calvin College with a degree in physical education. He then received his Master’s Degree from Central Michigan University. During his several coaching stints, Otte has coached both national and international athletes. In fact, he studied with National Coaches of Canada prior to joining Geneva’s staff.
Along with his extensive coaching duties, Otte teaches in Geneva’s physical education department. Otte has also served several of Geneva’s other athletic programs in the areas of weight training and fitness. Contact Coach Otte by email at bjotte@geneva.edu. |
