Dr. Byron Curtis mentioned in magazine

Curtis.jpgA book by Dr. Byron G. Curtis, associate professor of biblical studies, was recently listed in The Chronicle of Higher Education.

Titled Up the Steep and Stony Road: The Book of Zechariah in Social Location Trajectory Analysis, Curtis’ book examines the theory that the book of Zechariah has multiple authors and was written over a span of roughly 200 years. Curtis counters this argument with a new method of interpreting prophetic writing, using comparative sociology and historical linguistics.

Up the Steep and Stony Road’s inclusion in The Chronicle’s section of new scholarly books puts it in a class with the hundreds of titles picked from among thousands of submissions. Curtis’ work is the first book-length defense of the single authorship of Zechariah since 1896.
