Academic calendar changes

Geneva College is revising the academic calendar beginning with the spring 2011 final exam schedule. The new semester’s finals will take place over a three-day span instead of the four-day schedule that had been in place. Following Reading Day on Monday, May 2, exams will be held on Tuesday, May 3, Wednesday, May 4 and Thursday, May 5.

“After considerable discussion and feedback from department chairs and faculty, we have decided to alter the final exam schedule for spring 2011, fall 2011 and spring 2012 on a pilot basis,” said Provost Ken Carson. “If the changes are deemed positive, they may be made permanent.”

Additional changes to the academic calendar are as follows:

  • Fall 2011 – Fall Break will be from Friday, Oct. 7 through Tuesday, October 11
  • Fall 2011 – No day classes will be held on November 28, the Monday following Thanksgiving. There will be night classes on Nov. 28.
  • Fall 2011 – The last class day will be Monday, Dec. 12, Reading Day will be Tuesday, Dec. 13 and finals will be held Wednesday through Friday, Dec. 14 – 16
  • Spring 2012 – Finals will be held Tuesday, May 1, Wednesday, May 2 and Thursday, May 3
