Alpha Chi welcomes new members

Alpha Chi

Geneva College’s chapter of Alpha Chi will celebrate the induction of 29 new members on February 3. The ceremony will include a dinner for the incoming members and their parents (by invitation only). Provost Ken Carson and Alpha Chi co-presidents Sandy Moller, a senior business major, and Ashley Shea, senior elementary and special education major, will speak.

Alpha Chi is a national honors society open to the top ten percent of junior and senior classes at various colleges and universities. “Along with the recognition and the addition to your resume, there are different opportunities that come with being in Alpha Chi,” Sandy Moller explains. “Sometimes there are scholarships or some kind of help with graduate school.” Alpha Chi also hosts an annual conference for all members.

The Geneva College chapter of the society includes students from a wide range of majors. Many of these members are also involved in other campus activities such as athletics, music or the Geneva College Student Union.

Moller says that the opportunity to serve as an officer in Alpha Chi has made an important impact on her life. “I'm not usually in leadership positions, so acting as a co-president has helped me grow. Also, the personal satisfaction from being a member of the society is exciting.”
