2nd Regional Human Services & CARE Conference

Church CAREBEAVER FALLS, Pa – Church CARE and Geneva College announce the Second Regional Human Services & CARE Conference to be held on Friday, November 14, 2008 at Allegheny Center Alliance Church (Pittsburgh, Pa) and on Saturday, November 15, at Geneva College (Beaver Falls, Pa). 

The goal of the conference is to address the role of churches in human services and behavior health care. With the support of PA Commonwealth’s Office of Health and the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, Friday’s topics of discussion from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. will include the following: state support for faith based crises response, church and culturally informed behavior health, preparing families and churches for disasters, churches mandated reporting and legal issues, and community violence.

Saturday’s sessions, held from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m at Geneva, includes discussion of campus and church based first responders to disasters, and advocating for the oppressed and marginalized.
