| Chapel schedule for the fall semester | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
For 2012-13, the Chapel Leadership Team has chosen the book Dug Down Deep by Joshua Harris to provide a backdrop for Chapel. Harris raises the question “What are YOU building your life on?” Jesus’ view on the answer was radical, unsettling and perhaps offensive. He said that He was the one true and solid foundation for life. Chapel speakers won’t always discuss the book itself, but they will address various practical theological questions—the Bible, suffering, holiness, the Kingdom—raised in Harris’ book, as well as focus on some of the major issues we face in our lives, such as sexuality, addictions, injustice, anxiety, racism and calling. In all this, our desire is realize our deep need to know, enjoy, love and serve God and to demonstrate that in our daily lives. Dr. Ed Welch, a professor of Practical Theology at Westminster Theological Seminary, will be speaking on September 5, followed by Christopher Yuan, who will be giving his testimony regarding his experience with homosexuality on September 12. Pastors Rut Etheridge and Tim Russell are also on the agenda, for September 26 and October 10. Student speakers will address chapel audiences on subjects they have experienced, such as the past summer’s Civil Rights Tour. Chapel, a weekly devotional time for the Geneva College community, is conducted on Wednesdays from 10:10-11 a.m. in Metheny Fieldhouse. This time provides an opportunity for the campus to gather together to praise God, hear His word, and seek His favor and direction. Attendance is required for students and the entire campus community is encouraged to participate. September 2012
